1. What does Maeda call the 3 keys?
KEY 1 : Away (appear more simple)
KEY 2 : Open (openness simplifies complexity)
KEY 3 : Power (use less gain more)

2. Describe how you have used these in your work towards UPHERE? Give at least
one example of each key.
Key 1. Instead of having all my work saved on the computer and slowing it down i save it all on a remote hard drive to optimize power on the computer.
Key 2. An open mind of ideas can lead to simplified designs. You will cover all bases and think of all details to do with the construction of the design.
Key 3. If you think about all aspects of the design then you will be able to use less effort/ power to construct the product.

3. Describe an incident in the production of UPHERE where technology has been an
enabler…. and another where it has been a disabler!
Google docs. Not every one was able to communicate successfully.
Every one has access to a computers and other equipment e.g. cameras and audio to be able to complete their work.

4. At this stage in the exhibition process you are all working on some element or
process for the big event. List 3 things (in your current project) that you could take away to simplify and one thing you could add for meaning.
  1. The need for the other areas of study to decide on the theme of the exhibition.
  2. Take away all the small projects from each class and have one large project that each class will contribute to. E.G. Do all the designs in 2D and 3D class then get them ready to print in pre-press.
  3. Work so that I could concentrate on completing my uni work.
If I had of put even more effort in I could have completed some thing great.
