1. What does the word ENTROPY mean and why is this relevant?

The disorder or randomness in the system.

The Natural decline in disorder.

2. If you are attuned to everything around you, does it help you deal with what is in front

of you and why or why not ?

No because you have distraction in the background that take your attention away from what is in front.

3. How is this different from FOCUS ?

Because you are only focused on the things that are in the immediate vicinity of your workings.

4. Being “comfortably lost” is a balance between what 2 feelings?

A negative and a positive feeling. Being happy where you are, but not really knowing which way to go.

5. Describe a recent scenario when you found yourself to be “comfortably lost”. Did you

enjoy the sensation?

I don’t really like being comfortably lost I always like to be in control. I went on a Ferris wheel during a windy day I was quite uncomfortable with it swinging all over the place, but liked the view when we got to the top.

6. If you couldn’t hold back the urge to write on the “don’t write on this page” page – what

would you write?

WHITE HAT: This is all the facts and information that we need to come up with a logo for the exhibition. The information we need is The name for the exhibition, who will the exhibition be for, time frame to get work completed, colours that have to be used, who has the final say on the design.

RED HAT: This is all the feelings and emotion that we will put into the exhibition to make it a success. The amount of feeling we have towards the exhibition will show how committed we are in producing something good for the logo.

BLACK HAT: Focus on the aspects that don't quite work in the logo. With these negative aspects we can redo and create something better.

YELLOW HAT: Focus on the positives feel good about with the amount of work put in to create a logo that will be the face of the exhibition.

GREEN HAT: Fresh ideas take a step back after working for a while and have a look at it in a new direction. From the negative aspects turn them in to new ideas and have a positive out come.

BLUE HAT: Have a look at the big picture. We will need a logo that is suitable to cover all faculties in creative arts. We will also need to look at the different sizes that we will need the logo an if those sizes will work with the logo that we have created.

  1. Good solid post Jarrod. I hope you find the hats useful. Some students find them trivial - but I see them just as a tool to help you get outside yourself - or more accurately, use the different capabilities & viewpoints you have.
